Cehegín is a municipality in the region of Murcia, Spain, with a population of around 16,000 inhabitants. Although it is not near the sea, there are some options for bathing in the area, such as the Cenajo reservoir, located about 25 km from Cehegín, where you can practice water sports and enjoy the Almadenes beach.
As for hiking routes, there are several options for exploring the nature near Cehegín, such as the Norias route, which is a journey through the history and monuments of the city; the Hilo spring route, a low difficulty route that crosses the course of the river Quípar; and the Cigarralejo route, which is an archaeological route that passes through the Ibero-Roman site of the same name.
As for the gastronomy of Cehegín, there are several typical dishes you can try, such as rice with rabbit, marinated partridge, pork stew and migas (fried breadcrumbs). What's more, you can accompany your dishes with wines from the Bullas DO, a nearby wine-growing area that produces high-quality wines.
